Kitty Kitty: A Little Piece of Tucson Design History

Mar 24, 2026

When we first moved to Tucson, we fell in love with something we hadn’t expected: the design.

Mid-Century Modern is everywhere here. In the homes, the storefronts, the old signs still glowing in the desert light. There’s a warmth to it, a playfulness, a sense of optimism that feels both nostalgic and completely alive. It didn’t take long before that aesthetic started to find its way into our lives, and into our work.

For Colm especially, Mid-Century Modern became a huge source of inspiration. It’s how he decorates his home, how he sees color and shape, and how he approaches design. When we were just beginning to shape what Lemonwood would become, our logo, our website, our earliest products, that influence was already there, guiding the look and feel of everything we created.

Kitty Kitty was one of the very first designs to come out of that inspiration.

You can see it in the clean lines, the stylized shapes, and the playful balance of color and form. The cat itself feels like it belongs in a vintage living room, perched beside a starburst clock, surrounded by atomic patterns and geometric charm. It’s simple, but expressive. Retro, but still unmistakably ours.

This design isn’t just about a cat, it’s about a moment in time that shaped us. It’s about those early days of building Lemonwood, when everything was new and full of possibility, and we were discovering what our visual voice could be.

Kitty Kitty carries that spirit with it. A little piece of Tucson. A little piece of our beginning.

And, of course, a perfect companion for your yarn, quietly keeping watch while you stitch, just like any good cat would.
