Never Grow Up

Jul 9, 2026

Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught that growing up meant leaving certain things behind.

Play became "unproductive." Imagination became something for children. Wonder became something we were supposed to outgrow.

But we don't think that's true.

If anything, we think the world could use a little more childlike wonder.

One of the things we love most about knitting, crochet, embroidery, sashiko, and all the other fiber arts is that they invite us to play. We get to choose colors just because they make us smile. We follow stories woven into patterns. We make things with our own hands simply because it brings us joy. There doesn't have to be another reason.

As adults, we spend so much of our lives checking boxes and crossing things off endless to-do lists. We rush from one responsibility to the next, always thinking about what's coming tomorrow.

Creating asks us to do something different.

It asks us to slow down.

To notice.

To imagine.

To become completely absorbed in the simple joy of making something beautiful.

That kind of play isn't childish. It's essential.

This month's collection celebrates the idea that growing older doesn't have to mean growing up. It's inspired by adventures, imagination, and the stories that shaped so many of us as children, not because we want to go backward, but because those stories remind us of something worth carrying forward.

Curiosity.

Wonder.

Adventure.

The belief that ordinary places can become extraordinary with a little imagination.

Our newest Mini Minder, Onward and Knitward, is a celebration of that spirit. Whether you're traveling across the country, knitting at your favorite café, or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home, every project can become a little adventure of its own.

So here's your permission to embrace a little play.

Watch the clouds.

Take the scenic route.

Start the project that simply makes you happy.

Read the book.

Visit the museum.

Knit in the park.

Take your yarn somewhere unexpected.

Keep your sense of wonder.

Because the best adventures don't end when we grow older.

They begin the moment we remember we never had to grow up in the first place.

Onward and Knitward.
